4 Ways to Keep Your Immune System Healthy!

With the current issues facing us regarding the Corona Virus outbreak, we thought it’d be best to highlight some ways to keep your body and immune system healthy! Whether it’s through physical training or changes in your diet and nutrition, it’s important to make sure you’re doing everything possible to keep your body working optimally.

#1: Continue with physical training!

To keep a healthy body and immune system, you must continue to remain as active as you possibly can. Consistent strength and cardio training is vital in maintaining a healthy immune system to help fight against illness. Physical exercise is also a great way to relieve stress and naturally boost your serotonin levels which creates a feel-good feeling in your body.

#2: Eat a clean, healthy diet!

A healthy body is only as optimal as the food it digests. Be sure with every meal to include cruciferous vegetables (think broccoli, cauliflower etc), lots of leafy greens and plenty of high quality protein sources. Inflammatory foods such as grains, sugars and highly processed foods can cause havoc on your digestive and immune system – so do your best to eat clean whole foods!

#3: Meditate.

In times when there is a lot of panic and uncertainty in the world, it can be very easy to get swept up in all the drama. Meditation is a fantastic way to calm your mind and allow you to approach everything in a rational and calm manner. If you’re a complete beginner, there are lots of guided meditations for free online via Youtube, or you can download a fantastic guided meditation app called Waking Up with Sam Harris where he develops your meditation ability. Incorporating this into your daily routine at just 10 mins p/day will make a huge difference to your overall health!

#4: Get off social media!

News and social media sites make money by people clicking on their ads and getting views. This is done through sensationalising stories and creating hype & panic. Instead of being glued to your phone or computer creating panic and worry for yourself, try disconnecting from technology and go for a walk outside, practice meditating/yoga, read a book etc etc. Do activities that you find peace and joy in rather than creating your own fear.
