❄️ 5 tips to get you motivated for winter ❄️
Shorter hours, darker days and cozier beds beckon as winter rolls round. Leaving the house becomes just that little bit harder and when the city has fallen to hibernation your training may seem meaningless. However, this could not be further from the truth. Winter presents the perfect opportunity to focus in on your goals and set yourself the best start for the warmer months ahead.
With this in mind here are our top 5 tips for grabbing the winter with both hands and prepping yourself for that summer body:
JOIN GROUP CLASSES
Staying motivated is the ultimate goal throughout winter and there is no better way to maintain a healthy schedule than by consigning yourself to group classes. Comradery and competition present the perfect mix for pushing your limits and with so many new classes available there is no better time to get started. Look at getting involved in yoga and stretching sessions for extra mobility, boxing and spin sessions to burn off those extra calories and high intensity circuit sessions to start building that summer muscle!
BUDDY UP
Group classes aren’t for everyone but holding yourself accountable is important. All of us are prone to breaking our own promises but letting your gym buddy down is no comfortable feat. Join forces with a close friend, set some collective goals and motivate each other to achieve these. Your desire to break through barriers and improve together will see you both reach a whole new level.
STAY INSIDE
Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you’ll be freezing for the entirety of your workout. Take advantage of your gym space. Gyms are fully equipped to tend to your every fitness need. Go for a group ride in spin classes, take advantage of functional fitness spaces and enjoy being inside as you sweat it out.
CREATE YOUR OWN CHALLENGE
Nothings more motivational than working towards a goal. Whether it be adding 5kgs of muscle in three months, see your own six pack or something as simple as going to the gym three times a week, giving yourself the extra kick will only contribute towards a more devoted you. Speak to the personnel at your local gym about your goals for expert tips and to help develop the best system going forward for a fitter, stronger you.
MAKE A PLAN
Find a routine that works for you and stick to it. This means picking the days you are able to work out, the goals you want to achieve and following through. Write these in a calendar so that you are constantly reminded and track your progress to see results. Setting short term plans will get you chipping away and reaching that long term plan before you know it. “Success is not an action, but a habit.”
THE FINAL STRIDES
– Invest in some new winter active wear. Looking good will make you feel better.
– Lock in a summer event to show off your winter work. Marathons and outdoor boot camps are great motivation.
– FOCUS ON YOUR GOALS.
